from 2 outlets' reporting

Bangladesh's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported in its regular bulletin on Tuesday that three more people died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, raising the total of such deaths to 1,100 since March 15. Prothom Alo and The Financial Express said no one died from confirmed measles in that period, with 104 confirmed-measles deaths recorded, bringing the combined total of measles and measles-symptom deaths to 1,204. Prothom Alo reported 1,217 new suspected cases and 42 newly confirmed cases, with 215,768 suspected cases recorded and 23,199 confirmed overall. Hospital admissions since March 15 reached 191,761, with 184,168 discharged. Of the three deaths, Prothom Alo said one was in Dhaka Division, one in Mymensingh Division and one in Noakhali district of Chattogram Division. The DGHS bulletin is reported as the source of the figures.

Where accounts differ. bdnews24.com reported a combined toll of 1,207 and a symptom-death count of 1,103, and its bulletin attributes two deaths rather than three to the latest 24 hours, while Prothom Alo and The Financial Express report three deaths and a total of 1,204.

About this method

Method. Bias types follow the Table of Media Bias Elements and the Media Bias Taxonomy (both CC BY 4.0). The impartiality rules follow the BBC Editorial Guidelines and the Ofcom Broadcasting Code. The score is calculated from the seven answers, never generated.

What this is not. No outlet gets a standing bias rating, and there is no left/right axis, because that axis does not describe Bangladeshi politics. Each analysis covers one article about one event. Members' analytics count how each outlet's headlines were labelled over a chosen period, with the number of headlines behind every share, and also show the average score of an outlet's scored articles: that average describes those articles (mostly each story's lead), not the outlet, and outlets are never ranked by it or by any share.

Known limits. Headlines are grouped into stories automatically, so an unrelated headline sometimes slips in; it is shown faded rather than hidden. Where outlets carry the same wire copy, the comparison has little to show. Human annotators agree on bias in Bangla news only moderately (κ = 0.574 at best), which limits what any automated score can claim.
